The Viet Nam delegation under VASEP umbrella included 36 members representing 10 companies specialized in seafood production, processing and export. They brought to Alimentaria Mexico some typical seafood of the country such as Pangasius, frozen shrimp and some other processed products.
The Vietnamese products on display received great attention from seafood importers and distributors in Mexico.
The active participation of VASEP in Alimentaria Mexico in recent years has helped introducing and boosting seafood exports to Mexico as well as other Latin America markets. Currently, Viet Nam’s Pangasius fillets are available in most large supermarkets in Mexico, like Walmart, Costco, Chedraui, Superama, Soriana, etc. Viet Nam’s Pangasius export value to Mexico increases year by year, from nearly US$10 million in 2004 to nearly US$59 million in 2009, with more than 28,000MT. Viet Nam has become one of the largest frozen fish fillet exporters into this market. |
