Vietnam will try to export globefish for the fist time in 2010.
According to the information given on 19 November by Ministry of Agriculture and Farm Development, the ministry is preparing for a project of enhancing globefish fishing, buying, processing and exporting which meet the standards of food safety, and will submit it to the government in the end of this year.

The project will be performed in 3 years (from 2010 to 2012) in Quang Ninh, Nghe An, Phu Yen, Khanh Hoa and Kien Giang. In 2010, Vietnam is expected to raise the quantity of valuable products made of globefish to 800- 1,000 tons with the price at 5 – 10 USD per kg. In 2012, Vietnam may earn 4 -10 million USD and offer 600 – 1,000 jobs.

According to vice secretary general of Vietnamese Fishery Association, Mr. Bui Van Thuong, the quantity of globefish in Vietnam may reach 37,000 tons as reported in a research on Vietnamese sea. Most of the quantity is in the middle (45%). There are 21% in Western South.

Mr. Luong Le Phuong, vice minister of Ministry of Agriculture and Farm Development, said that the ministry would organize training courses for fishermen and globefish buyers about techniques of classification and preservation on ships, and give certificates to those who meet the standards.

Vietnam has tried to export globefish 2 times before in 2005 and 2008 but it was ineffective.
