Since the third quarter of 2009, there’ve been a lot of aquaculture products in some Spanish ports such as Vigo, Barcelona, Algeciras, etc., which couldn’t be imported. Sometimes, the quantity of product blocks is known at 20. The reason said by Department of Imported Product’s Safety is that National Agro-forestry and Fisheries Quality Assurance Department (NAFIQAD) has made mistakes in giving certificates or changed them without any message to Spain.
The common 2 mistakes are: The certificate given by NAFIQAD is yellow instead of being blue like informed in the announcement sent to EU, and a container has 2 certificates given by 2 different agencies.
Once the products are refused by Department of Imported Product’s Safety, the Spanish enterprises must spend a lot of time to confirm with Vietnamese competent agencies. This fact causes these enterprises a lot of problem and affects the prestige of Vietnamese aquaculture industry.
Moreover, because the value of Vietnamese aquaculture imported to Spain is rocketing in quarter II of 2009, pushing Spain to be the biggest customer of Vietnam all over EU and causing a decrease in the need of fish caught in the north of Spain, the enterprises here are fighting against Vietnamese aquaculture.
